A Summary of Our Basic Beliefs

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, and that only scripture may bind the conscience. We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. We believe that all glory belongs to the One Triune God alone.

A Brief Statement of Our Basic Beliefs

  1. We believe that the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, is inerrant in the original manuscripts, and is the infallible and authoritative Word of the God.
  2. We believe that the one God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe that God created, and continues to sustain, all things by his sovereign power.
  4. We believe that the first man, Adam, created in the image of God, was tempted by Satan, and fell into sin. Because of Adam's sin, all men and women have guilt imputed, are incapable of redeeming themselves, and must be regenerated by the Holy Spirit for salvation.
  5. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Creator in the flesh — the Second Person of the Triune God, and that he was born of a virgin, died on the cross, shed His blood as the perfect and complete substitutionary sacrifice for all who are his, rose bodily, and ascended to heaven where He is presently exalted at the Father's right hand.
  6. We believe that salvation is an act of sovereign grace, consisting of the remission of sins, the imputation of Christ's righteousness, and the gift of eternal life received by repentant faith alone, apart from any work other than Jesus Christ's perfect and complete victory over sin and death.
  7. We believe in the promised visible and personal return of Jesus Christ.
  8. We believe in the resurrection of both those who love and those who reject Jesus Christ as Lord. Those who have been saved by Christ will abide with him eternally and those who have rejected him shall be cast away from the eternal blessedness of his heavenly kingdom and into the presence of divine eternal wrath.
  9. We believe that while the visible church may be made up of both the regenerate and the unregenerate, the invisible Church — the body of Christ — consists only of those who are born again, who are baptized by the Holy Spirit into Christ at the time of their regeneration, for whom He now makes intercession in heaven and for whom He will come again.
  10. We believe that the sign and seal of the new covenant in Christ are the sacraments of the Lord's Supper and Baptism. While these sacraments do not provide salvation, they symbolize the new covenant and signify the grace of God through Jesus Christ unto salvation.
  11. We believe that Christ commanded the Church to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every person, baptizing and teaching those who believe. We believe that the church is called to transform the world by proclaiming and living the Gospel.
  12. We believe that the Holy Spirit sanctifies believers unto a life of increasing holiness, marked by a passion for the Gospel, a commitment to the Body of Christ, the evidence of the Fruit of the Spirit, and personal piety.
