Out of love for the truth and the desire to bring it to light… On October 31, 1517, Catholic priest Martin Luther posted his Disputation…on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences on the door of All Saints’ Church in Wittenberg. This act inflamed a debate that ultimately began what we now call the Protestant Reformation and affirmed the authority of Scripture as the rule and guide for life and faith… and that salvation was by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

A standard, annual observance recognizing that day began in 1717. Historically, it has been observed on various dates; today, many churches choose to commemorate the occasion on the last Sunday in the month of October.
