The barbaric attack by Hamas terrorists on Israeli civilians has shocked and outraged people of conscience around the world. Regardless of anyone's perspective on the geo-politics of the region, focusing an attack on non-combatants (including the elderly and little children) and then celebrating inhumane cruelty is wicked. The subsequent suffering of civilians on both sides of this conflict is a matter of deep concern and should be part of our intercessory prayers.
I have been asked, by some within our congregation and some who are not members of our congregation, how this may or may not relate to biblical end-times prophecy. There are some on-line and television preachers and teachers who have asserted that this is part of the prophesied conflict involving "Gog" and "Magog," causing question to arise in the minds of many on this topic. Responding to such questions requires quite a bit of biblical and theological background in order to begin to properly understand what I believe is the correct interpretation of such issues in regard to biblical prophecy. To that end, I have pulled together a response using a few trusted online resources.
Bear in mind that there are 3 main views of the end times, called "Eschatology," that are held among Bible-believing Christians... Premillennial, Postmillennial, and Amillennial (which may more accurately be called Realized Millennial). While currently the more popular view among American Christians in the modern day is the first (dramatized by the "Left Behind" movies), I am totally convinced of the latter.
